Living History

Stone Tool

Rock tools were very important for the start of the Neolithic period. Rock tools gave early humans the ability to do things their hands could not before. I made the rock to the right, it was serrated to cut through wood better. it was too dull to cut much, but still did something.

Camping Trip

One of the first major things we did was go on a camping trip. People in the Paleolithic and Neolithic didn't have the luxuries of today, so we tried to walk in their shoes. Some used the stone tools we made to light a fire, and we hiked to look at a rock with very old cave paintings.

Modifying Nature

In early history, people in the Neolithic period had taken nature and modified it to be more helpful to them. This happened over millions of years and changed many things. I did mine on tomatoes and how the plant changed over the years.

Stone Tablet

To learn about language in the Neolithic times, we learned about how they inscribed texts. We made our own language and a partner and I made this stone tablet. Beside it is our personal connection and how the ancient people may connect to it.

Math History Portrait

There were a good amount of smart people in history, to see how some of them influenced the world of science and philosophy. To make this I first did an early draft by drawing myself. Then I made this portrait by tracing and then coloring it in. A paragraph was written down below on this philosopher, who's name is Hipparchus. This was all attached to the wall to stay until a new project replaces it.

Book

To show different aspects of my selected civilization, me and my class wrote a book to show things like architecture, art, philosophy and more. It was bounded and a burlap cover was put on the outside.

Catapult

This catapult was a group project with six people who made different parts of this catapult. It is a ballista, basically a large crossbow on a platform. It fires foam javelins which are like large arrows except these ones aren't sharp. I worked on the base with a partner, and our goal was to make a functioning base that could rotate at the top while also being very cheap and simple. we achieved that goal using a stool and a caster wheel mount with the wheel removed.
