Elementary School Learning Options

At High Tech High our curriculum is based on equity, personalization, authentic work and collaborative design. During our school closure we are committed to providing rich educational experiences for children which continue to further our design principles. We are committed to focus on work that is meaningful to our students and that enables students to flourish both academically, socially and emotionally.

What Distance Learning Looks Like

  • Learning materials shared each week on our Clever site

  • Kick off each day with a morning video message from your child’s teacher explaining what the day and week of learning will involve

  • Experience math, reading and writing video lessons each day

  • Choose from a variety of creative, investigative and active exploratory experiences

  • Complete purposeful independent work, based on the lessons, either on or offline

  • Participate in weekly check ins with teachers

  • Join weekly virtual class meetings

  • Learning connected to standards

Students

  • Work hard and do your best.

  • Find a quiet, comfortable spot where you can work.

  • Set up a daily routine to help you get everything done.

  • Talk with your family and set aside time when you can learn online and when you should be away from a screen.

  • Make sure that you are staying up to date with the work that your teachers are assigning.

  • Follow the HTH Distance Learning Responsible Use Policy for expectations for online behavior.

  • Your teachers are here for you if you need anything. We miss you!

Families

  • Our teachers will work in partnership with you to set up a distance learning plan that works for you and your family.

  • Set aside a time for your child’s weekly check in with their teacher (please note, the first check in will be a family one).

  • Check your child’s Clever site with them daily.

  • Establish routines and expectations to help your child participate in learning.

  • While we have designed activities to be completed independently, please participate in your child’s distance learning as much as possible.

  • Be mindful of your child’s wellbeing, speak to them regularly about their work, their emotions and share any relevant concerns with their teacher. We are here to help you.

  • Encourage children to participate in the additional activities designed to promote exercise, creativity and exploration.
