Feeding: Please feed the bunnies about ¼ cup (½ cup for the 2 bunnies) of pellets 1 time a day. I like to feed them in the morning. I replenish the hay at this time as well. They should always have access to hay, so I replenish this as needed. They should also have vegetables. I usually give them this in the afternoon and will pull pieces of my lunch or school lunch. Their favorites are Cilantro, Parsley, & Endive. They can have fruit as a treat every other day and in small amounts. They LOVE bananas! I will give one bunny up to half a banana. They love blackberries and strawberries. Carrots are sweet so I consider them a treat too.
I always check online before giving them something new. Luna and Jupiter like to steal food from each other, even when there is surplus. This is their relationship.
Water: Please provide water at all times. Their blue water bowl screws on the wire grates of the cage. I try to not put the water above the pellets, as they expand when wet. Please wash the bowl at least every other day.
Litter: The bunnies have a litterbox and bedding that goes in the litterbox. I try to change the litter everyday, but every other day is ok too. They will drop pellets around the cage as well. I will spot clean once a day. They are in travel cages so their routines are different. This litterbox is not their normal box so they may not use it properly. My main goal is that they use this litter box for pee, as liquids can make their living space very messy. If they are peeing in a corner that is not where the box is, M]move the box to that space, or place extra bedding in that spot too.
Play: Please play with the bunnies! Taking them out of the cage can be tricky since they can get fussy when being picked up. To pick her up, make sure to have one hand on her bottom and the other on her belly with her feet facing away from your body. They have a strong kick so keeping their feet facing away from you is best. Bunnies go into shock when on their back.
Indoor-They will enjoy getting out of their cage. They love to free roam but may hide Luna may nibble things so keep a n eye on her while she is out. They usually will not go to the bathroom when free roaming. If free roaming does not work in your space, they have play pens they can play in.
Outdoor- The bunnies love playing outside. They are amazing at squeezing into tight spaces so please only allow them outside if the space is secure. They will eat grass and dig. I let them dig a little then stop this as they can dig a burrow and get lost.
