Nearly 60 countries have now ratified the High Seas Treaty, a powerful sign of global commitment.
But ratification is only the beginning. At the second #BBNJPrepCom governments must now take the next step: designing the processes and institutions that will bring the Treaty to life.
From funding mechanisms to scientific bodies, to fair participation frameworks, PrepCom is where the foundations that will define long-term success are being discussed.
This is not a time to slow down. With the climate and biodiversity crises accelerating, the world must turn promises into action, and the High Seas can’t be left behind.
