Welcome to Highlands School

Book a place on one of our open mornings

We will be hosting eight open morning sessions, for families wishing to see the school during the day while lessons are taking place. The tour will be with a member of the senior leadership team and will last approximately 40 minutes. Spaces are limited to fifteen people per tour, and places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. To ensure that as many families as possible can book a place, we are asking families to attend with a maximum of three people (including the child).

Due to limited spaces, these daytime tours are only for families with a year 6 child.

Welcome to Highlands School

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Highlands School open evening micro site. Please take the time to explore this site and watch the videos that we have made about our curriculum, pastoral care, science and STEM, extra curricular activities and the introduction from me above. We are confident this will give you a sense of the values and principles that underpin the work we do at Highlands, and of the opportunities and experiences open to your child if they join us in year 7 in September 2022.

Highlands is one of the highest performing and most popular secondary schools in Enfield, twice judged ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED. We opened in 2000 in brand new buildings surrounded by landscaped outdoor spaces and playing fields. Highlands is proud of being a genuine community school; we achieve academic excellence whilst remaining fully inclusive and welcoming students with a range of different backgrounds and abilities.

I hope that your child joins us in September 2022. As Highlands School goes from strength to strength we look forward to welcoming them to our school community.

Vincent McInerney

Headteacher

I am delighted you are considering joining our community here at Highlands School. The staff and older students thoroughly enjoy working with the year 7 students, as they inject a great deal of energy and excitement to our school.

Our aim is for every child who attends Highlands School to reach their full potential in every aspect of life. Of course a large focus is on academic achievement but we also strive to strengthen the character of our pupils, preparing them for the future challenges life will inevitably present.

At Highlands School, we understand that the start of secondary school is an important transition for our students and see it as a key time to establish early success and build upon the foundations to support this big change. We strive for all pupils to leave with the qualifications and skills needed to give them the brightest future possible.

Jody Larter

Assistant headteacher responsible for transition
