You can link with any school that wants to have a partnership, whether it be formally through the help of an organisation or informally via a friend who teaches in a school. It could be with a school in Scotland or the UK or further afield in Europe or even anywhere in the world. In Highland there is a partnership with schools in Versailles, France and the resources here are based on that work. There are other organisations like the British Council and websites like eTwinning to support school linking if you want to set up an independent short or long term partnership.
Where to start?
Once you have a partner school, the first thing to do is to contact your partner teacher and share information via email about yourself, your school and your learners. It is important to establish a working relationship with your partner teacher, and then to think about how you will work together, what you will do, why & how long for. It may be helpful to take a look at the Training PPT to give you some ideas and start you thinking. Then have a look at the Partnership Planning document to guide discussions with your partner teacher. It will be useful to complete this with your partner teacher. Then you might like to join E-twinning and create a twin space to work together - a great secure platform.
You may decide to focus on a particular topic with your partner school. If so, below are some resources in both English and French to help you. Another option is to link in with whatever topics / activities you are already doing with your class.
If you're more interested in shorter stand alone projects focusing on developing language skills, why not try one of these Gaelic challenges and see work from other schools across Scotland, or try one of the themed cross-curricular projects with another school of your choice.
