Croeso!
The weeks are flying by and we can't believe we are writing in the Chronicle again already. It was a shame we had to cancel sports day, but don't worry we are looking to arrange another date soon. We've lots of events coming up to look forward to before the end of the school year.
See you again in two weeks!

Nut Aware School
We would like to remind you that we are a nut aware school and we kindly ask that you ensure that you do not provide your child with any snacks or a packed lunch containing nuts.
Year 3 - Slimbridge
On Thursday 11th June Year 3 went to Slimbridge Wetlands for the day. We had a wonderful time finding out about how we can look after the world by not using as much plastic, we made new friends with some Flamingoes, Swans and Geece/Goslings and saw the Otter Tilly.
We were very fortunate with the weather as it only started to rain when we were heading back to the bus! Well done Year 3 you were a credit to the School.
PTA AGM
Our Parent Teacher Association will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at school on Tuesday 30th June at 4pm. All parents and carers are warmly invited to attend. We kindly ask that children do not attend this meeting. The AGM is a great chance to hear about the work of the PTA, share ideas, and get involved in supporting our school community. As part of the meeting committee positions will be agreed for the coming year. We hope to see many of you there.
NeedDoh Sensory Toys
We kindly ask that children do not bring into school NeeDoh or similar squishy fidgets that are filled with a glue-like gel centre. We appreciate your support and understanding with this matter.
Sparkle - Charity Fundraising Day
High Cross Primary School recently enjoyed a fantastic whole school sponsored carousel activity, packed with fun activities including hula hooping, Twister, limbo and bouncing around on space hoppers! The children showed great enthusiasm, determination and teamwork as they took part in the challenges, all while raising money for our chosen local charity, Sparkle! We are incredibly proud of everyone who participated and would like to thank our school families and community for the generous support on helping us make a positive difference. The final amount is to be confirmed, which we will share with you in due course. A special thank you must also go to our fantastic health and wellbeing lead, Miss Morris, who organised this brilliant event for us all.
End of Year Reports
The teachers are currently working hard to write your child’s end of year report. These will be emailed out to you during the week commencing Monday 29th June 2026.
Afterschool clubs
After school clubs for this academic year will end on Friday 3rd July 2026. There will be no after school clubs in the final two weeks of the summer term.
Moving Up Day
On Thursday 9th July 2026, your childwill have the opportunity to meet their new class teacher and spend time in the class that they will be starting in in September. On the day we will send you a class booklet with information about your child's new class.
School Uniform
We feel that school uniform helps our pupils to feel part of a community and appreciate your support to ensure that the correct uniform is worn.
Please ensure your child's name is on all items of uniform. It makes it much easier for us to return the items to the correct child.
Winter uniform: White polo t-shirt, a royal blue round-neck sweatshirt or cardigan with or without the school logo, grey trousers, skirt or pinafore dress and black shoes.
Summer uniform: Blue and white gingham dress or grey shorts can be worn.
P.E. kit: Navy shorts or jogging bottoms, a royal blue polo t-shirt with or without the school logo and trainers or daps. Children can wear their P.E. kit to school on their allocated day. Nike Pro style cropped shorts should not be worn.
Jewellery: must be limited to watches (not smart watches) and stud earrings (where necessary). Children must remove all jewellery before they undertake any PE sessions. If ear piercing is still healing, parents must provide tape to cover studs for PE sessions.
When communicating with pupils, parents, carers, staff and all stakeholders, in writing, by phone or in person we will always:
Be polite, respectful and do our best to resolve your questions and queries;
Try to get back to in a timely manner. Please remember our staff are very busy and they have daily teaching commitments. We will always try to get back to you within 48 hours but please understand this is not always possible;
Pass your query on to someone who can help if we are unable to assist you.
In return, we ask that you:
Treat our staff with politeness and respect;
Do not contact us to vent anger or frustration. We understand that something may have caused you or your child distress but please try to communicate with us in a calm and respectful manner to allow us to try to help you quickly and efficiently;
Accept that staff may not be able to respond to you immediately and please remember that we do not expect our staff to work at weekends;
Allow us to explain our reasons for decisions, which are always made in a considered and timely manner.
It is important to note that persistent rude, aggressive or malicious communication will not be tolerated. If such inappropriate communication occurs, it may result in restrictions being imposed by the headteacher (in consultation with the Chair of Governors) on your mode of communication with the school.
Thank you for your understanding with this.
