Message from the Principal:

Happy summer, Viewmont families! It’s August, and we are SO excited that very soon school will resume! We have been busy working around campus to get ready and can’t wait to see our little bears return. I want to share a few important dates so you can mark your calendar.

Register your students now - Avoid long lines at Meet and Greet by registering your student(s) online. All students are required to register, both new and returning. You should have received an email with instructions on how to register. If you have multiple students at different schools you can register them all online at the same time. Go to https://www.hickoryschools.net/cms/one.aspx?pageId=30200461 to complete online enrollment today.

Thursday August 17th we have a school beautification day from 7:30-2:00. Please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0949A8A82CA3FCC70-school. All parents and stakeholders are encouraged to come help make our school look amazing!

Thursday August 24th we will have our Sneak Peak or Meet and Greet event. Kindergarten - 2nd grade families will come from 1:00-2:30 and 3rd - 5th grade families will come from 2:30-4:00. At Meet and Greet you will be able to meet your teacher and visit your classroom as well as get support completing online registration and information on buses, morning and afternoon carline, signing up for Parent Portal, paying school fees, supply lists, dental visits available through the school and all kinds of other helpful information about back to school.

The first day of school for students is Monday, August 28th. Kindergarteners will come on a staggered start schedule for the first three days only. Kindergarten students with last names beginning with A-H will start on Monday, August 28. Kindergarten students with last names beginning I-P will start Tuesday, August 29th. Kindergarten students with last names beginning with Q-Z will start Wednesday, August 30. All kindergarten students will come on Thursday August 31st and everyday from that point forward.

Please also mark your calendars for Friday, September 29th. This will be our Open House/Family Movie Night. We will have a brief PTA meeting starting at 5:30. Families will be encouraged to walk through their classrooms to see displayed work samples, sign up for conferences if desired, and get some important information from teachers. At 7:00 we will start an outdoor movie on the front playground. Concessions will be sold and families can bring yard chairs and blankets to sit on.

This year all students will participate in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Specials class. We are collecting the following household items to support some of the projects and explorations that will take place in STEAM class this year. These items can be turned in at the front office.
