Technology

"At Holt Farm Junior School, pupils have access to over 60 mobile devices across various major platforms. This includes 60 Chromebooks, 6 i Pads, Galaxy Tabs, Stone laptops and much more. Staff have use of Stone and HP laptops in each classroom, CleverTouch 55" interactive screens and visualisers.

In addition to all the above, teachers and pupils have access to our bespoke Chromebook laptops - which just run Google Chrome for web-browsing and G- Suite. A computing suite with a large interactive Smart Screen and 17 desktop computers.

By having such a wide range of devices, children learn to use the best tool for the job. All devices are organised and maintained by our Digital Leaders that are represented by pupils in each year group." - Mrs l Wass

Some of our Digital Leaders

Some of the reasons our Digital Leaders think they were chosen:

  • I think I have been chosen to be a digital leader because I am helpful and I always put my friends before me. I am polite and when I lose or get anything wrong I do not whine or get upset. I am a role-model and I always do what I am told. I also go the extra bit further and do extra work.
  • I think I have been chosen as a Digital Leader because I’m polite and helpful in computing lessons and always listen well which helps me to always meet the learning objective.

I really enjoy using Scratch and programming but I am best at using Softease Paint as I am very good at art.

At home I use my laptop nearly everyday to research topics that I am interested in such as my favourite football team and to watch Youtube videos by my favourite vlogger Ethangamer. I also use my mum’s smartphone to access different games and the internet. My best apps and games are Altos Adventures, Cargobot and Questimate.
