Rebeca Raijman
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Haifa, Israel. I received my Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago.
My research focuses on three main areas:
(1) Labor migration in Israel: (a) political economy of labor migration, recruitment practices of migrants (the migration industry) and patterns of precarious employment in the Israeli labor market; (b) the emergence on new migrant ethnic minorities in Israel and the socio-political organization of undocumented migrant communities; (c) the politics and policy of labor migration in Israel: state, local governments and non-governmental organizations.
(2) Macro and micro determinants of exclusionary attitudes towards migrants and minorities in Israel and Europe;
(3) Modes of incorporation of Jewish and non-Jewish migrants in Israeli society (economic, linguistic, and identificational assimilation).
