Welcome to Reading class!
I am very excited to have your children in my class this year!!! We will be focusing on building a strong foundation in reading skills that will help your child be successful in school and in the real world. I will be working with your child each day on targeted reading skills, in addition to the reading instruction your child receives from the classroom teacher. My goal is to help your child become a confident reader and proudly apply the skills they are learning in my classroom, into the regular classroom. Reading is a lifelong skill and I hope to instill a love for reading through many hands-on and engaging literacy activities this school year!

Hi, my name is Mrs. Julie Tapke and I am the Reading Interventionist at Highlands Elementary School. I am excited to teach you strategies this year to improve your reading skills and instill the love of reading and learning. When I am not teaching I like to spend my time with my husband, two children and puppy Hazel Lou! In addition, I play competitive pickleball, cheer on the Villanova Wildcats, and read a lot of mysteries and thrillers.
