Did you know that some students might enjoy going to school on Saturday? Yes, on the 22nd of February, our school was full of excited and happy students.
It was because our school was hosting the International English Language Olympiad. The contest was organised by The Global HIPPO Association in Moldova, and the Chisinau regional round took place at Heritage International School. Our school was represented by 17 students. All participants including me, were required to come in a good mood with two blue pens and with their mobile phones switched off. At nine o’clock all contestants registered at the reception and were divided into seven age categories. Every participant was assigned a special candidate number for fairness. After some minutes they went up to their classes to start the test.
The test was divided into three parts: Listening, Reading & Use of English. The youngest category Little HIPPO were doing their tests for 60 minutes, but the contestants in the highest category HIPPO Special were doing it for 95 minutes. It was my category too. It was not easy but it was fun. Everyone got a certificate of participation and the results will be available on the 13th of March. The winners will go to the semi-final, where the students from all Moldova will be competing. The final contest is planned to take place in Italy.
I personally can recommend to everybody to participate next year and test their knowledge of English. You will have lots of fun too!
