A note from the Heritage Globe: Passengers should not fly on commercial airplanes when experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
It was the end of April, meaning the easter break was just behind the corner. My mother, my sister, and I were planning on going to Barcelona. Little did we know that I would have my first coronavirus experience…
Easter break came, and I did not feel anything strange. Everything as usual, wake up early in the morning to catch our flight to the city in the beautiful country of Spain. When we arrived at the airport, I felt a little cold running up my back, from that moment I knew what it meant. I felt the temperature of my body increasing rapidly and giving me goosebumps. It would not have mercy and give me such symptoms as dizziness, headaches, and more. The feeling would weaken me with every step I took, I did not want to tell my mother about that, but she soon found out because of my pale face.
Unfortunately, there were no pharmacies in the airplane-port but luckily my mother always carries an *urgent kit* with her. She shoved pills in me, drink up and run towards our gate since we were already late.
We sat on the bus and headed to the plane. My stuffed nose would not let me breathe, and made the flight terrible. The air pressure and the humidity are already messed up in the plane, and the nose just made it unbearable. At that moment, I remembered all the prayers and was begging God to stop this. I measured the temperature, and understood that I am in big trouble… 40 degrees body temperature (104fr) told me that it was about time to say goodbye to my mother. I’ve read a lot of articles about death at 40 degrees body temperature, which made me both scared and remember all the possible things to stop this torture. I started drinking cups after cups after cups of hot tea.
Somehow, I arrived at the airport in Barcelona. I and my mother quickly rushed to the nearest cab to put our bags to get to the hotel room ASAP.
When we arrived at the room, my mother called the ambulance and apparently when they came, I was already sleeping…
I woke up the next morning in a comfortable bed because of strange beeping. I opened up my eyes and saw my mother sitting on my left side on an uncomfortable-looking chair, It was the hospital where I woke up, and after that, I stayed in the hospital for the past 4 days and 4 nights.
The time was not one of the most pleasing ones, but I thought of it as a crazy experience I can tell my kids.
I nearly died :D
