Term 6 2526 Herbert Morrison Newsletter Issue 73 Thursday 16 July 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to our final newsletter of the year — a joyful celebration of a wonderful term and a highly successful year!
Please visit the Events to Remember section of our website to enjoy the videos, and follow our Instagram page for even more of the everyday excitement at Herbert Morrison.
We could not have achieved so much without you and your fantastic children. Thank you for working in partnership with us and supporting our ambition of High Care, High Challenge. Your children deserve the very best, and that is what we always strive to provide.
Our value this term has been self-esteem, and it truly came to life during our talent shows. I was especially proud of our neurodivergent children, some of whom bravely performed alone in front of the whole school. The encouragement from the audience was incredible and brought a tear to my eye! There were plenty more tears at our wonderful Year 6 Graduation — a truly memorable celebration.
Thank you to everyone who joined the Staff versus Parents football match at the Summer Fair — we clearly inspired England! A huge thank you also goes to our PTA, who raised an amazing £1,775.70. What a fabulous event!
Together, we also achieved our attendance target, finishing the year at 95.1%. Thank you for your continued support.
Our new Gold Book will begin in September with the message:
What will you imagine and achieve over the summer?
Thank you to everyone who attended our optional Parents’ Evening to look at books and meet the new teachers. Before the holidays begin, please also check the lost property, as all remaining items will be cleared during the summer.
Please remember that admin@herbertmorrison.lambeth.sch.uk will only be checked periodically during the break. In an emergency, please contact the police or use the safeguarding support numbers shown on the poster below.
Enjoy the summer, stay safe, read, relax and make precious memories together.
Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful break.
Kind regards,
Mrs Peake
Proud Headteacher
🌿 Years 3 and 6 at Kew Gardens! There was plenty of curiosity, teamwork and excitement throughout the day at Kew Gardens — and lots of happy memories made together. We are so proud of how brilliantly Years 3 and 6 represented Herbert Morrison. 💛🌺🌳#LearningBeyondTheClassroom #Years3And6 #CuriousLearners
Year 5 had a fantastic end to the week.🌟 We enjoyed our last trip together to Southbank Centre to take part in the inspiring “ Imagine the Future” event. It was a fantastic experience and not only did we participate in the event, but we also had the opportunity to enjoy a walk along the beautiful River Thames. What an amazing day filled with learning, laughter and wonderful memories together! 🧡🌟🤗
We had the opportunity to take part in an exciting science session all about forces. It was wonderful to put into practice everything we have been learning this year and see our knowledge come to life through hands on investigation and discovery. 🧑🔬🥼🧫
Events to Remember
Our talent show was full of joy, courage and incredible performances — watch the video and enjoy every brilliant moment! 🌟
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today such a brilliant event — especially our amazing Sylvia, Grace and the PTA, who worked so hard behind the scenes to bring it all together.
It was wonderful to see ex-students returning to help, ex-staff popping back to visit, and so many families enjoying the day together. The whole event had such a warm community feel — exactly what makes Herbert Morrison so special.
Thank you to everyone who came, supported, volunteered, baked, bought, laughed, played and joined in. What an event! 💛
🎓 Toucans Class of 2026 🎓
What a beautiful Year 6 graduation for our wonderful Toucans class. We are so proud of all you have achieved and of the kind, confident, resilient young people you have become. 💛
You have filled Herbert Morrison with laughter, personality, friendship and brilliance — and today we celebrated all that makes you so special.
As you spread your wings and fly on to your next adventure, remember: once a Toucan, always a Toucan! 🐦✨
Toucan play that game — and you certainly did it in style!
We will miss you all so much. Congratulations, Year 6! 🌟
These children have been recognised for their incredible effort and excellence! They will receive a golden certificate, a big round of applause during the celebration assembly, and a coveted spot in the prestigious Gold Book. Well done to all our shining stars!

The questions of the week are-
💙 What do you like most about yourself?
🌟 What is something you are proud of achieving?
💭 How do you speak to yourself when something feels difficult?
🌱 How can mistakes help us grow and become stronger?
🤝 How can we help someone else feel confident and valued?
❤️ What makes you feel special, important and loved?
🏫 How can we make Herbert Morrison a place where everyone feels they belong?
✨ What is something you can do now that you once found difficult?
🌈 Why is it important not to compare ourselves with others?
🦸 What strength do you have that other people might not always notice?
😊 What can you do when you are feeling unsure of yourself?
⭐ What positive words would you use to describe yourself?
We discuss the values and question of the week in assembly. Discuss these with your child at home.
