About the Team!
The Counseling & Guidance team at HCHS consists of Barney Sutley, Director of Guidance, alongside School Counselors, Sarah Golden and Jason Banta. We also work very closely with the HCHS Director of Behavior, Richie Robbins, and our Guidance Clerk, Stephanie Clifford.

Roles & Responsibilities
Barney Sutley
Infinite Campus Data & Scheduling Administrator
Builds the master schedule; schedules students in desired classes at HCHS, iLead, the Carroll County Area & Tech Center, and full-time JCTC
Dual Credit Coordinator
Supports students in registering for dual credit courses within the partner college/university
Building Assessment Coordinator (BAC)
Works with the Kentucky Dept. of Education to register Junior students for the state-wide ACT exam in March
Assists all students in registering for national ACT exams (if needed)
Works with the Kentucky Dept. of Education to register students for Kentucky Summative Assessments
Assists with Industry Certification and EOP exams

Roles & Responsibilities
Sarah Golden and Jason Banta
Academic Support Counselor
Assists with scheduling students in desired classes to meet career goals
Consults with teachers, students, and families when students are struggling or need to be challenged academically to help devise a plan to aid in student success
Career & College Counselor
Counsels students in the post-secondary decision making process
Consults with local KHEAA representatives, local employers, and college admissions counselors to provide opportunities for students post-secondary
Social/Emotional Mental Health Counselor
Provides solution-focused counseling techniques to help students create appropriate coping strategies through direct social/emotional instruction
Helps students create plans to address various mental health struggles/needs
Counsels students through various mental health struggles, such as anxiety, ADHD, grief, low self-esteem, social appropriateness, self-awareness, etc.
Consults with and refers students to outside mental health counselors/therapists when appropriate
Program Coordinators
Collaborates with school, district, and community personnel to provide programming and resources to fit the needs of students and families (i.e. Grandparents Raising Grandchildren event days)
Guidance Clerk
Roles & Responsibilities
Stephanie Clifford
Receives and assists visitors in the building
Answers and relays telephone calls/messages and schedules appointments when School Counselors are away from the area
Assists with transcript ordering through Parchment
Maintains student records
Works alongside school secretary in assisting students and parents with initial registration procedures
Handles incoming and outgoing mail
Supports Director of Guidance and School Counselors in various tasks
Director of Behavior
Roles & Responsibilities
Richie Robbins
"Culture Keeper"
Works to improve school climate and culture through fair and equitable consequences
Works to implement "positive referral" systems and supports
Behavior Interventionist
Consults with students and teachers to support student success
Encourages student voice during student problem solving and behavioral interventions
Law Enforcement liaison
Consults with local law enforcement to ensure student safety
Bullying Prevention Coordinator
Works with students and families when suspected bullying arises within school grounds and among current HCHS students
Director of Wildcat Academy
Consults with the Wildcat Academy staff and Director of Credit Recovery to ensure student academic, social/emotional, and behavioral learning
