The Fine Arts Diploma Seal (FADS) is a prestigious recognition for high school seniors who demonstrate dedication to the arts through coursework, community engagement, and extracurricular involvement. To be eligible, students must successfully complete a fine arts pathway, which includes three credits in the same arts discipline and an additional fourth credit in fine arts or an approved creative industry course.
Beyond academics, students must complete 20 hours of arts-related community service during their senior year, actively participate in two or more arts-related clubs, and complete a capstone project showcasing their artistic growth and achievements.
This seal is available in public school districts that have applied to award it. Individual schools do not apply—only districts do. The district application deadline is February 15 each year, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Districts that have previously been approved do not need to reapply.
Earning the Fine Arts Diploma Seal is a remarkable way to highlight artistic commitment, strengthen college and career applications, and celebrate the impact of the arts in students' lives.
The HHS Fine Arts Honor Cord is a distinguished achievement awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the arts. To earn this honor, students must:
Complete courses of theatre, maintaining an A in all theatre classes. (Shows mastery)
2 years of Active Membership in Thespians Society
Complete 20 hours of community service related to the arts.
Assist in all main stage performances, contributing to the success of productions both on and off stage.
Exhibit admirable behavior and professionalism, serving as a role model for peers and upholding the values of dedication, teamwork, and artistic integrity.
Must participate in Hive Theatre season productions each year.
To ensure sustained engagement and a well-rounded experience, students are expected to remain active in the program throughout all four years, including their senior year. Due to block scheduling, some students may complete the four required courses before graduation; however, participation in extracurricular activities, events, and program-related opportunities is still required during senior year. This continued involvement reflects a commitment to excellence and growth beyond the classroom. THIS APPLIES TO ALL FINE ARTS PROGRAMS THAT LEAD TO AN HONOR CORD
