Hola and welcome to my site! My name is Joy Haaf. Welcome to an exciting semester of Spanish. I am thrilled to be a member of such a diverse group of educators at the Academy for Advanced Studies.
My alma maters are Georgia Southern University, Augusta State University, and Nova Southeastern University. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Reading Education. I studied abroad in Spain as an undergraduate student. I began teaching Spanish in 2005. I have also taught math, science, reading, and writing. Earlier in my career, I was employed as a resource specialist for the Georgia Department of Education’s Migrant Education Program. In 2018, I was a part of a mission team that wrote and implemented a bilingual math curriculum for a STEM camp in Panama City, Panama.
In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, singing, traveling, volunteering at my church, and spending time with my beautiful daughter Eden. I love learning new things. I am passionate about ALL THINGS LITERACY and second language acquisition.
Let’s make this a GREAT year!
