How can I check my student’s progress?
Grades will be updated in Infinite Campus each week. You can also check the unit learning paths or daily agendas for the daily or weekly assignments.

First, double check that there aren't any overlooked assignments in Google Classroom. Use your student's login to access the specific pages and materials. If everything has been completed, then there could be some assignments on my grading list that haven't been fully graded. Please contact me, and I will let you know if that is the case.
Otherwise, it could be that your student is struggling with the content. They are able to resubmit class tasks for a higher grade after receiving feedback or meeting with me to go over the material. I also have "office hours" every afternoon between 3:15 and 4:00 pm.
A list of assignments can be found on the student's unit learning path along with details of where materials are located and how they should be turned in once completed. Learning paths are linked on the course web page as well as in Google Classroom. They are also listed individually in Google Classroom under the Classwork tab.
Information and announcements will be sent out through Remind first and foremost. You can join the group by following the directions found on the course syllabus (top-right corner). Occasionally I will send out a mass message through Infinite Campus Messenger if it contains more information than will fit in a Remind message. If that is the case, I will send a Remind message requesting that parents check their Messenger inbox.
The majority of assignments will be graded according to level of content mastery, which is measured with the unit learning targets (located on all unit learning paths). Assessments will consist of open-ended questions about the lessons as well as thoughtful self-reflection. Each of those assessments will be graded with a rubric, which will be shared with students when they are required to create a product to be evaluated. There should be at least one grade posted in Infinite Campus each week, whether it is a practice grade, quiz grade, or assessment grade.
Math is hard to do at home. I get it. This is definitely not my ideal situation, but I want to make the most of what we can do without causing any undue stress or family tension. I have posted on my site several resources for parents that should guide them through questioning their students to make sure they understand what they are learning. If your student is struggling, make sure they have their notes completed and have attended the lesson meeting. In their learning paths, I have also linked additional tutorial videos or extra practice that you can point them to. If it is just too much to take on at the moment, have them schedule a conference with me or attend my office hours the next afternoon.
My office hours end at 4, but assignments are not due until 11:59 pm on the due date. I will respond to messages or emails sent between 4 and 9 pm, but please expect any later communication to be returned the following morning. There are parent resources on this site as well as student resources on their learning path that should help students with content questions. If the available resources do not address the questions, please let me know so that I can address the issue.
If you are having technical difficulties with the Chromebook itself, please contact technical support. I do not have the expertise to advise you.
If you are having trouble logging on to platforms we use in class, please contact me by email and include the specific problem as well as steps you have already taken to fix it. Most log in problems can be remedied by making sure students are logging in with their school-issued credentials or accessing resources through their launchpad (home page).
This year, the focus will be on content mastery over completion, however, attendance will be taken at each class meeting and reported through Infinite Campus. The content has been focused to key standards that have been deemed necessary for course mastery. This means that we teachers will not be struggling to "fit everything" in the reduced amount of time for our classes and the workload should be smaller than it was previously. This also means that there will be no "gimme" grades where students get a grade for simply completing an assignment. Activities and assessments have been carefully and thoughtfully selected to allow students to demonstrate their learning of lessons.
