My name is Mr. Benjamin, and I am the ESOL teacher here at McDonough High School. The purpose of ESOL is to help non-native English speakers learn English and become proficient in academic and content-area subjects. I am extremely passionate about language learning and helping my students develop the English skills that they need to be successful in their core content classes, socially, and in life in general beyond high school.
I have been teaching for eight years. I have taught middle school math, science, and Algebra 1. I have been teaching ESOL for the past three years. Along with my teaching experience, I am bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish. I learned Spanish as an adult; therefore, I know the struggles that many of my students deal with linguistically.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing tennis, hiking, learning languages, video editing, music, and cooking.
