Brainstorm a person of interest to use as inspiration for the peg person.
Select a recycled beverage bottle in a desired shape. Push a styrofoam ball onto the top of the bottle.
Apply paper maché over the bottle and head. Smooth out any bumps with a clay tool.
Allow the paper maché to dry. Smooth the rough surfaces with a sandpaper file.
Sketch a simplified face, hands, and clothes onto the body. Plan out details matching the selected characteristics and personality.
Paint the face, hands, and clothes.
Create the figure’s details using black paint and a fine brush. Add outlines to create contrast.
Allow the sculpture to dry. Participate in a class critique.
