CONCEPTS:

· Creating rhythm and unity by repeating selected elements.
· Selecting color for unity and contrast.
Gather Your Supplies:
Gelli Arts® gel printing plate (often referred to as a "Gelli plate")
Acrylic paints or other printmaking inks
Brayers (rollers) for spreading paint
Stencils, stamps, or textures
Paper
Palette
Paintbrushes
Prepare the Gel Plate:
Place the gel plate on a flat, stable surface. Make sure it’s clean and free from dust or debris.
Apply Paint:
Squeeze a small amount of acrylic paint or ink onto the gel plate.
Use a brayer to roll out the paint evenly across the plate. You can layer different colors or blend them to achieve various effects.
Add Textures and Patterns (optional):
If desired, use stencils, masks, or other texture tools to create patterns or designs on the painted gel plate. You can press these tools into the paint to create interesting textures.
Make Your Print:
Place your paper on top of the painted gel plate. Gently press down to ensure the paint adheres to the paper. You can use your hands or a clean brayer to apply even pressure.
Carefully lift the paper off the gel plate to reveal your print. The result should be a unique, one-of-a-kind print!
Clean Up:
Clean the gel plate by gently wiping it with a damp cloth or paper towel. If needed, you can use a mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or scrubbing too hard to prevent damaging the plate.
Experiment and Have Fun:
Experiment with different paint colors, textures, and layering techniques to explore various creative possibilities. Gelli plates are versatile and allow for endless creative experimentation.
Create two final prints that show a minimum of 3 layers but you can have more. You may choose your subject. The goal of this assignment is to learn the process, experiment with the medium and be creative.
