CONCEPTS
What role do persistence and experimentation play in overcoming challenges in the art-making process?
Using observation or imagination, sketch ideas for a landscape using a sketchbook or the Thumbnail Sketches worksheet. Experiment with utilizing atmospheric perspective, making objects in the middle ground and background less saturated and defined.
Open up a new canvas in Adobe Express. Add a layer for the sky. Choose a brush with which to start painting the sky. Choose a color with which to begin the sky.
Fill in the sky layer down a bit farther than it will end up showing. Use multiple values and brushes to add color and/or texture to the sky.
Add a new layer on which to paint a moon or sun. Select a smaller diameter of brush for sharper lines and details.
Choose a color to begin painting landforms. Add different values of the chosen hue to the palette.
Add a new layer for each landform from background to middle ground. Use lighter values in the back and darker values for closer landforms to create gradations and the illusion of depth. Use multiple brushes and colors.
Add new layers as details are added. Choose colors and gradations to convey a desired mood/ambiance.
Participate in a critique focused on the ideas and moods present in the finished works.
