CONCEPTS:
● Organization of how Artists work and reflect in their Visual Verbal Journals. Use of Journals includes:
o Describes art using specific vocabulary.
o Uses visual verbal journal to take notes about the critical method
o Uses visual verbal journal to create a bank of words used to describe a work of art.
o Use visual verbal journal to practice media and techniques
o Use Visual verbal journal to plan and revise art
o Create preliminary/practice works that include opportunities for practicing skills
o Create a final piece that employs knowledge of good composition (rule of thirds)
Create a final work that applies knowledge of elements of art.
After watching the Zentangle video create 10 different patterns in 1"x1" boxes (you will need to make these) on a page in your journal
look around the room for ideas
think of patterns you would find in nature
use observation to help give you ideas on how to create the different patterns
You must include a minimum of 3 of the patterns from the "ZenDoodle" Worksheet and then 2 or more of your own patterns (you can find these online or create your own).
Use rulers, lids, bowls and other items to trace shapes onto your paper
Reference your patterns you created in your sketchbooks. Use a minimum of 2 of your patterns for your work and a minimum of 3 patterns from the "Zen Doodle" worksheet below.
Use a minimum of 10 geometric shapes with at least 5 of those shapes overlapping
Use a variety of qualities of Line in your artwork
Use a pencil first and then trace over your lines with thick and thin sharpies
Use this worksheet to find a minimum of 3 patterns to use in your finished piece.
