CREATING
Discover, define, and solve visual problems with increasing independence through experimentation with ideas, materials, and techniques.
Engage in an array of processes, media, techniques, and/or technology through experimentation, practice, and persistence.
CONCEPTS
What role do persistence and experimentation play in overcoming challenges in the art-making process?
Discuss the objectives and rules of the synchronized drawing game. Agree upon a time limit for each stage of the game collaboratively. Sit across from a partner and line up drawing papers.
Begin a line drawing as the leading artist. Vary marks, direction, value, movements, and speed. Communicate to the partner only non-verbally as needed.
At the timer's end, switch roles. Try to match the partner’s marks, direction, value, movements, and speed as the responding artist. Communicate to the partner only non-verbally as needed.
Repeat the game as time allows, switching media and/or partners. Try a round using verbal communication.
