meet mrs. rutman

hello!

My name is Meredyth Rutman and I am joyfully starting my twenty-second year of teaching!  I am proud to say that I have been a Greenwood Gator since the school first opened in 2004!  I grew up in New Jersey and then made my way to Virginia for college.  I graduated from Virginia Tech with a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction...GO HOKIES!  During my collegiate years, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy and Switzerland, where I learned about the Reggio Emilia teaching approach.  This style of teaching focuses on the importance of meeting the needs of every child, in a way that is meaningful and engaging.  I fully embrace this mindset and strive to make my classroom a place of love, acceptance and growth...where the academic, social and emotional needs of every child are nurtured and cultivated.  I am tremendously excited about the upcoming year and feel so thankful to be a part of this amazing school!  5 Houses...1 Family!

Greenwood Elementary is not just a school…it’s so much more than that…it’s a place where MAGIC happens!
