Magic in Reading

Marginalized students within the Richmond area lack the educational resources they need to succeed.

The first step in solving the problem is by rekindling these children's love for reading.

Statistics show that literacy test scores for many young low-income students of color are dropping. As this educational epidemic grows among Richmond youth, there becomes an increasing obligation within the county to recognize and assist this problem. These marginalized children deserve access to the same opportunities and resources as their peers in high-income households. By organizing events to help raise awareness of these issues, we can also accommodate the growing, curious minds of developing youth. Eventually, we can tackle the Richmond area's inability to fund the education and passion of kids throughout the region.

Our solution is simple: a day where children throughout our Henrico community can watch dramatic, in-costume performances of classic children's books. At the event would be themed activities to further guide a love of books among kids in the Henrico area.
