Spanish IV is an advanced-level class that fine-tunes what students have learned in levels 1 through 3. Throughout each unit, students will expand their knowledge of the Spanish language using a variety of learning techniques, designed to present the language via authentic, cultural resources while challenging the students to work collaboratively and think critically about the topics most-relevant to Spanish-speaking communities. Such techniques include interpretive communication, listening and reading, oral presentations, interpersonal writing, speaking and communication, as well as projects and unit assessments. As language is multi-faceted, the approach to learning will be as well.
The class will be taught almost exclusively in Spanish, and the students will be required to participate and respond in Spanish. Students should also expect to speak Spanish daily, whether in small-group settings or in front of the class. Students will be required to work hard both inside and outside the classroom, and in return, will reap the many benefits of being able to communicate in a second language.
