The G.A.T.E. Connection
Welcome to GATE
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Debra Woolley and I have been in education for over 30 years. This is my 4th year in Hempstead, but my first year working specifically with the students identified as gifted at Hempstead Elementary. I am looking forward to continuing my work with the GATE students in Hempstead.
1st Nine Weeks - Growth Mindset
The Power of YET
The students learned that adding the word, YET, goes a long way to achieving goals.
Students are viewing their data to set short term, realistic SMART goals.
Creative Problem Solving
Students were given a set of shapes and were asked to create something that solves a problem while helping someone.
Students also use this time to create electronic circuits using the Robotics materials.
Students use materials provided to solve a variety of challenges. Here they were asked to build a bridge.
2nd Nine Weeks - Pursuit of Passions
We will be spending time exploring our interests.
