The NYC Vaccine Command Center (VCC) is led by Melanie Hartzog, New York City’s Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services, and brings together experts from across city government. More than a dozen City agencies conduct operations through the VCC, including the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, NYC Health + Hospitals, NYC Emergency Management, NYC Department for the Aging, the Mayor's Office, and the City’s Task Force on Racial Equity and Inclusion.

Most city-run sites are offering walk-up vaccinations without an appointment, including for individuals 12 years and older. You can find the closest wall-up site to you by visiting NYC Vaccine Finder and clicking the "Walk-ups" toggle button. 

New York City is offering in-home COVID-19 vaccinations to any City resident who requests one. Any New Yorker requesting in-home vaccination will now have the option to request their vaccine brand preference (Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson). Click here to complete the request form.

Every home in the U.S. can order four (4) free at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests. The tests are completely free—there are no shipping costs and you don’t need to enter a credit card number.

The City of New York has setup a testing portal for those who would like to get tested for SARS-CoV-2 (novel coronavirus). Please call the testing site before you arrive to ensure the site is open and to see if the site is taking walk-in or if you need an appointment. 

The NYC Test & Treat Corps is New York City’s comprehensive program to ensure COVID-19 testing, treatment, and Long COVID care. 

The Corps provides convenient, widespread access to free testing and connections to COVID-19 treatments through its mobile Test to Treat program and the city’s COVID Hotline, 212-COVID19. 

The Corps also manages a network of over 250 free at-home test distribution sites where New Yorkers can pick up at-home tests.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistance Secretary for Preparedness & Response (ASPR) has launched a new nationwide Test to Treat initiative in March of 2022 to give individuals an important way to quickly access free lifesaving treatment for COVID-19. 

Through this program, people are able to get tested and – if they are positive and treatments are appropriate for them – receive a prescription from a health care provider (either on-site or through telehealth), and have their prescription filled all at one location.

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) will provide significant economic relief to assist households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds are provided directly to States, U.S. Territories, local governments, and Indian tribes. Grantees use the funds to provide assistance to eligible households through existing or newly created rental assistance programs.

An "eligible household" is defined as a renter household in which at least one or more individuals meet the following criteria:

• Qualifies for unemployment or has experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19

• Demonstrates a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability and

• Has a household income at or below 80 percent of the area median income.

ERAP is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Under NYC’s Paid Safe and Sick Leave Law, covered employees have the right to use safe and sick leave for the care and treatment of themselves or a family member and to seek legal and social services assistance or take other safety measures if the employee or a family member may be the victim of any act or threat of domestic violence or unwanted sexual contact, stalking, or human trafficking.

COVID-19 and Paid Sick Leave

Workers who have COVID-19 or were in contact with someone with COVID-19 can get sick leave (time off) regardless of immigration status. State and local laws let workers take time off to care for themselves or a family member.

Special Leave for the COVID-19 Vaccine

Workers get additional leave under CITY law to get their kids vaccinated. Workers get 4 additional hours of sick leave for EACH child; and EACH vaccine injection.

The United States Federal Emergency Management Administration will provide any U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified non-citizen assistance paying for a funeral in which the person is responsible if the person's death was attributed to COVID-19 and the death occurred in the United States.

Call to apply for the program.  Multilingual services are available.  Please note that COVID-19 Funeral Assistance applications must be completed with a FEMA representative.  You cannot apply online.  It will take about 20 minutes to complete the application.  Please visit the FEMA website for more information.

The Human Resources Administration, Office of Burial Services assists individuals in need of financial assistance to meet funeral expenses for a deceased low-income New York City resident (decedent). Payment may be authorized to reimburse funeral expenses that have already been paid or pre-approval for payment may be authorized for the cost of a planned funeral.
