Understanding consent, communicating boundaries, and respecting others.
Consent and boundaries are important in romantic relationships, friendships, online interactions, and everyday life. This session gives young people practical tools for communicating what they are and aren't comfortable with while recognizing and respecting the boundaries of others.
Participants will explore:
What consent means
What freely given and informed consent looks like
How someone can change their mind
Verbal and nonverbal communication
Pressure and coercion
Setting personal boundaries
Respecting another person's “no”
How consent applies outside sexual situations
Activity for This Session: Consent Quickfire
Participants will be divided into teams and put their knowledge to the test in a fast-paced buzzer-style competition. The facilitator will present questions and realistic scenarios involving consent, boundaries, communication, pressure, and respect. Teams will race to buzz in first, answer the question, and explain the reasoning behind their response.
As the game progresses, scenarios will become more challenging, requiring participants to identify when consent is present, recognize when a boundary has been crossed, and determine how an interaction could be handled differently.
The goal is to make learning about consent engaging and memorable while giving participants practical tools to recognize, communicate, and respect boundaries in real-life situations.
