Welcome to the homepage of Dr. Givens

I graduated with a B.A. in history and political science from Texas Christian University. (Go Frogs!) and received my M.Ed and Ed.D. in Education Administration from the University of North Texas. This is my 20th year in HEB. I have been married for 23 years and live in Bedford with my wife and our two sons.

I want to welcome all of our new and returning parents and students to Harwood Junior High. Thanks to all of our parents for the support and encouragement you give your child each day.

We will have multiple CBA's (curriculum basedassessments) and DBA's (district benchmark assessments) in core subjects throughout the year and will use this data to inform our instruction in the classroom. Your student will be setting goals for each of these assessments and charting their progress in each class. Please talk with your student frequently about daily assignments, upcoming tests, and their achievement on the district assessments.

Our goal is to partner with you to help your student achieve academic success that will prepare them for high school and beyond. Please contact me if you have any concerns or questions.
