Type of Course: Leadership & Management
Course Reference: HOC-003/HFFC-015
Course duration: 1 day
Hosting Mode: Online or On-site
This course explores the different types of Technical Services pathways, their key building blocks and how to design a sector leading, strategically aligned pathway. Attendees gain experience of creating pathways, role outlines and promotion criteria. They also learn how to create winning project teams who co-create and deliver excellence.
What: This course explores Technical Services career and promotion pathways. These are often comprised of a number of components, including: a taxonomy, roles, capabilities and promotion criteria. The journey taken to design these components and the final products are of critical importance in determining success.
Why: The design and implementation of pathways have long term impacts on business effectiveness. If designed and implemented well they:
Ensure technicians are high performing and motivated
Ensure roles and responsibilities are clear
Promote the organisation as an employer of choice
Support the development and the retention of top technical talent
Offer efficiency and deliver value for money
Ensure effective working practices with other business areas
If they are outdated or poorly designed services can fail to deliver service excellence and the organisation can be seen as not investing in its workforce.
The ability to co-create a strategically aligned career or promotion pathway is a critical first step to organisational acceptance.
