Good teachers have been leaving education across the country, and now it's happening right here in Santa Clarita. If we want great schools for our kids, we need to keep great teachers. Help us reach our Governing Board members by doing the following:
Step 1: Email or call your local Hart District Governing Board member before the February 21 Board Meeting to ask them this question: "What are you doing to attract and retain high quality teachers for our students?" Visit hdtaunited.org/action for Board Member contact information and a sample script.

Dear [School Board Member's Name],
I write as a concerned parent, a voter, and a taxpayer in the Hart District. Our teachers, the heart of our community, have been working without a contract since July. This school year, California districts (including Hart) received a cost-of-living increase from the state, but our district still refuses to pass along ANY of that cost-of-living increase to its teachers and other employees.
Other school districts around our community have already settled with their teachers to pass along a fair portion of the state's cost-of-living increase. Why hasn't the Hart District done this yet?
I urge you to support a fair deal that passes along the Cost of Living Adjustment to our teachers. Our students deserve the best, and this starts with retaining high-quality educators.
Good teachers have been leaving education all across the country, and now it's happening here in the Hart District. I ask you this question, "What are you doing to attract and retain high-quality teachers for our students?" Your support can make a significant difference.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
