Social Studies - May

We are preparing for a House of Commons simulation to debate a bill limiting the amount and type of vegetables parents may serve. Everyone has been assigned a role and is evaluating the bill from their perspective.

Science - May

Students have selected one of the systems in the body and are researching it in more detail, including its size, function, and an illness that can affect it.

French - March/April

Students looked at types of conflict in library books, then drafted and produced their own narrative stories.

French - Dec.

We have started reading through an abridged version of The Time Machine (La Machine Ă  Explorer le Temps), completing some comprehension and vocab work, and then creating film versions of the text. We'll take on the middle and end in the new year.

Science - Nov.

We are starting our unit on structures and students had fun building towers out of marshmallows and toothpicks.

Social Studies - Dec

We are using inquiry to research European explorers to North and South America. Students are picking an explorer, then reporting their findings by imagining that the explorer had technology with them on the journey - what would they have posted to Instagram or Twitter (etc)?

Science Experiments - Nov

We are looking at the properties of matter, such as solubility, viscosity, etc. We are conducting experiments with different materials to investigate these properties.

French Writing - Oct/Nov

Students are writing opinion texts in paragraph form by following a model of opinion - argument - example.

Social Studies - October

Students learned about the Seven Grandfathers (values that guide indigenous beliefs) and are creating their own version that reflects their personal values.

Science Test - October 23/24

Students are responsible for knowing the three states of matter, the names of the processes for changing states, and whether the change involves the absorption or loss of heat.

Social Studies Project - October

Students are working on illustrations of a Wendat village, complete with labels that describe aspects of Wendat culture that they find interesting.
