To celebrate the last week of school, we asked our kids for ideas on 'special' things they would like to do our last week together. They brainstormed some great ideas, but the most popular ones included a picnic (at the carpet in our classroom), bubble party, 'blue buckets,' and watching a movie. We will be celebrating these on the following days;

Monday - Picnic at the carpet

Tuesday - 'Blue buckets' - a variety of games that we have played throughout the year

Wednesday - Bubble party

Thursday - Movie

Friday - parents welcome to come from 12-12:55

Enjoy your weekend and please email us if you have any questions.

With the school being closed on Monday, it impacted the special helper sharing dates. Therefore, next week, the special helpers will be;

Kasem, Lynlee, Maira and Maya

Sorry for the confusion, and we appreciate you understanding.

Last week, we did an activity called, "Which one does not belong? " This activity involved showing a picture (which is below) and asking the students to share which picture they thought did not belong and the reason behind it. We made sure our class understood that there was no 'right or wrong' answer because they were providing evidence/support as to why they felt the picture did not belong with the others. Those students who felt comfortable sharing their ideas with the class, did so (and their reasoning is below). It was great to hear their ideas and this activity made me (Ms. Marsh) look at these pictures differently too :)

R.K - #3 - "Because, it only has 3 and nothing below it."

S.G - #3 - "Because, it only has the 3" and, #1 - "Because there are two number 4's."

O.S - #3 - "Because, it only has the 3 and nothing else."

S.M - #3 - couldn't remember her reasoning

G.P - #1 - "Because, there's two number 4's" and, "2 - "Because it has a 6 and a 5."

Z.R - #3 - "Because, it only has a 3."

M.B-H - #3 - "Because, there are only dots at the top and nothing at the bottom" and, #2 - "Because it has the most black dots."

J.B - #2 - "Because, 5 and 6 don't belong together."

R.W - #4 - "Because, 2 goes after 3" and, #1 - "Because there's two number 4's on the dominoes."

L.J - #1 - "Because, they are both the same numbers and the other ones are not."

Z.S - #4 - "Because, it only has one number 3."

Z.A - #3 - "Because, there's something at the top, but not at the bottom."

Scholastic Book Club Orders

I know that Scholastic Book Club orders have changed slightly over the past couple of months. Before, there use to be a code that you could enter if you wanted to pay online with a credit card. You can still pay online with your credit card, but it appears you will have to input your child's order. Below are the steps on how to do this. If you so choose, you can send in a cheque and your child's order form and I will submit it on your behalf. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this.

Placing a Scholastic Order Online

• Click Connect to Your Teacher and create your Reading Club account, finding your child's teacher and adding your child to your profile.

• Shop the site and add items to your cart.

• Checkout in 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Review Your Cart

• To review your cart, either click Go to Checkout after adding an item to your cart or click the cart button that appears in the top-right corner of all Reading Club ordering pages.

• On the Review Your Cart page you can:

• Assign each item in your cart to a child. (The book(s) will be delivered to this child’s classroom).

• Change the number of items ordered, if necessary.

• Redeem any coupons

• Then, click Proceed to Checkout to continue.

Step 2 : Enter Payment/Review Shipping Information

• Enter your payment method. (Please Note: Credit Notes can not be redeemed online. If you would like to pay with a credit note, please submit your paper order form to your child's teacher along with the credit note and a cheque for any additional payment.) Then click Continue Checkout . Your order will be shipped to the child’s classroom once the teacher submits it with his/her classroom order.

Step 3 : Confirm and Submit Your Order

• Review order and click button to Submit Order.

• Once your order has been submitted:

• Your payment information is sent directly to Scholastic, and your order is sent to the teacher’s online account to be submitted to Scholastic with his or her class order. (Your card is not charged until the items have been shipped.)

• You will receive an order confirmation email.

• The teacher will receive an email alerting him or her of your order awaiting submission.

• You will receive an automated email when the teacher submits the classroom order to Scholastic for processing.

• You can check your online account to see the status of your order at any time by clicking My Account and then Order Status & History.
