Make the Call!
Parents/Guardians,
Please contact the school when your student is absent. You have 3 school days (72 hrs) to excuse an absence after it has occurred. You may also contact the school to excuse an absence if you know ahead of time. With a doctor's note, certain absences could potentially qualify as an exempt absence, which means it won't be counted against your student's attendance (student's are still required to complete any school work for the day(s) they missed). Any unexcused absence can be deemed a Truancy per NRS 392.130.
We are here to support both you and your student! Communication is essential and we have many resources available if necessary.
Contact the school so they can assist!
If your student is unable to attend school due to a medical/mental health circumstance, please have the physician provide a note to be given to the school. They can also fill out the following form at the time of the appointment. With documentation, your student's attendance will then be updated accordingly and the absence(s) could potentially be exempted. These forms are also available in the attendance office.
*Local regularly scheduled appointments do not qualify as an exempt absence per NRS.
