Dylan Toma Award

To honor Dylan, Crocker Middle School and the Toma family created the Dylan Toma Award. The award goes to a Crocker 8th grader who best exemplifies the traits for which Dylan was best known - courage, resilience, and kindness. Dylan died in March of his 8th grade year after a years long battle with osteosarcoma, a bone cancer. 

The award was first handed out in June 2021 at Crocker's graduation by Burt and Christina Toma, Dylan's parents. Carly Peters was presented with the award. 

This award is presented each year to the Crocker 8th grader who best exemplifies the spirit of former student Dylan Toma. Dylan battled cancer for several years, but he did not let that battle get in the way of his compassion for others and his positivity. The recipient of this award should show the qualities of kindness, determination, courage, and resilience. They should also be someone who encourages those qualities in others as Dylan did during his life.
