Larry Raffo arrived in HCSD in October of 1988. He served as Crocker's first vice principal until June of 1991. When North School reopened after being closed for a number of years, Larry was appointed principal of the school. He returned to Crocker as principal in July of 1994 and served in that role until June of 2001. Larry was named the 1997 Community Care Award winner by the Associated Parents Group. The Crocker courtyard was dedicated to him at the end of the school year in 2001, when he left the school to become Assistant Superintendent at the HCSD district office.

Larry began his teaching career in 1971 as a 7-8 Social Studies teacher at Burlingame Intermediate School. He was encourage to apply for the vice principal position by Crocker staff member, Arlene Holt. Marilyn Loushin-Miller states that they made a great team as, "He did all the stuff I hated and I did all the stuff he hated." One thing they had in common was they both believed in children and "wanted to get the best with kids." Marilyn says that Larry became a master at dealing with kids. She later appointed him principal at North, before he returned to Crocker.
The Crocker Courtyard dedicated to Larry Raffo was full of people on August 31, 2022. It was used as a gathering place before Crocker What To Expect Night.
