Criteria

Applicant Criteria

  • Teams must complete the online application by May 6, 2019.
  • It is not necessary to have a complete plan in order to apply. The most important criteria is the problem or challenge to be solved - the design thinking process will help you with the solution.
  • The pitches/presentations developed during the workshop will be used to pitch at the end of the day on July 16. These plans will include the challenge to be solved, the proposed solution, the timeline to implementation, the required budget, the impact of the solution, and a plan to propagate the results.

Judging Criteria

  • The committee that will review proposals and develop a funding recommendation for the Foundation Board will be composed of Foundation Grant Committee Members and representatives from the School District.
  • Teams will be evaluated based on the feasibility of their idea, the applicability to the District, and the overall impact of the solution. A maximum of five teams will be chosen to proceed with their project.

Team Criteria

  • No more than 4 educators to a team
  • All team members must be able to attend the two day summer workshop, July 15-16.
  • All team members must be able to attend Pitch Day on July 16, 2019.
  • Teams must be willing to provide written updates and feedback to the HCS Foundation.
  • Team members are not required to teach at the same school.
  • Teams must have the support of the local school administration.
  • If team is selected after Pitch day, each team member must commit to attend at least 3 of the 5 optional afternoon sessions August - April.
  • If team is selected after Pitch day, each team member must commit to attend the two all day-workshops on November 14, 2019 and February 20, 2020.
