Dr. Martin Ledvina joined the faculty in 2021, bringing research, industrial process engineering, sustainable design, and entrepreneurship backgrounds to the Hoover Engineering Academy. In 1997 he started a business he managed for the next 20+ years. In the process, he directed the development of new manufacturing technologies, supply chains, and quality management processes.
After studying chemical engineering at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, Czech Republic, he came to UAB and graduated with a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering in 1998.
As an instructor of the first- and fourth-year engineering courses, he witnesses the academic and personal leaps the academy students make over their four years in high school. “I love working with these young, gifted people. I strive to give every student the tools they need to reach their full potential now and in the future. Watching the students flourish brings so much satisfaction to my job as a teacher”, he comments on his work.
