First Semester Project Time Line

The First Semester Project forthis year was quite successful with approximately 93% of my studnts who were assigned this project completing it on time. I think the biggest difference his year was the constant emphasis being place on the Pacing Guide that was one of the attachments ionluded in the research pckett.

I told my students to use parents as a resource and judging from the excellent Invitations and Menus, many of them followed my advice. Thank you for your time and effort in assuring that the project would be completed in a timely fashion.

The Curriculum:

  • For the past four years I have requested, at least a classroom set of updated North Carolina and United States text books. therefore my ability to assign or give homework assignments have been rather limited. The evaluation of homework assignmemts has in the past been a very important strategy for evaluating student understanding and progress.
  • The curriculum is divided into 9 units or Concepts. the first 5 to 10 days will be an introduction of the NC and US physical and political Geography.
  • Unit#1- Exploration/Colonization (9/11-10/9/17).
  • Unit#2 - Taxation/Revoluttion/New Nation (10/10-11/3/17).
  • Unit#3 - Expansion/Reform (11/6-11/30/17).
  • Unit#4 Antebelum/Civil War/ Reconstruction (12/1 - 1/19/18).
  • Unit#5 - Industrilization/Immigration/Migration/ WWI/Spanish-American War/Isolationism/Annexations (1/22 - 2/16/18).
  • Unit#6- The Great Depression/WWII - (2/19-3/16/18)
  • Unit#7 - Post WWII/Civil Rights/ Vietnam War -(3/19-4/20 18).
  • Unit#8 - Globilization/Enviromental Issues/Terrorism - (4/23-5/21/18).
  • Conclusion: review and testing - (5/23 - 6/8/18)
