FabLab Tool Schedules

To schedule FabLab tools, first check the FabLab activities calendar to verify the FabLab is open during the time you plan to use the tool, then click on the link for the tool you want to schedule.

Scheduling Recommendations for 3D Printers

• Schedule enough time for setup, pre-heating, printing time, and cooling time.

• Estimate printing time by using the printer software to calculate printing time for your design.

• Manage expectations: the 3D printers are not always reliable and may produce unexpected results. Successful prints may require multiple attempts and redesigning your component.

Scheduling Guidelines

1. Students are expected to display professionalism in their use and scheduling of FabLab tools.

2. Failure to show up within 10 minutes of your scheduled start time may forfeit your scheduled time if other students are waitin to use the tool.

3. Failure to finish within 10 minutes of your scheduled time may result in canceling your project if other students are scheduled to use the tool.

4. Reschedule your appointment if you experience setup delays that will prevent your job from finishing before the next scheduled use.

5. Scheduled use of tools has precedence over ad hoc use of tools.

6. Students may use tools on an ad hoc basis if they are not already scheduled, however, they must finish before the next scheduled use.

7. Students may not schedule tools to override other students using them on an ad hoc basis.
