KAMAL SHAH M.D.
Dr. Shah believes that true healing comes from within. The ultimate goal of treatment is to empower you to manage your health and wellness to live the life you were meant to. Dr. Shah works to investigate, diagnose, guide treatment, teach, and become a lens through which you may better understand yourself. His goal is to be present with you along your journey.
His training in Complementary and Alternative Medicine has taught him to focus on using preventive and alternative treatments first. He focuses on integrating other healing techniques in his practice. If medication seems advisable, he will collaborate with you to create a treatment plan to limit the amount and duration of medication treatment. He believes in using medications to help stabilize the body while you do the work of healing the mind through work with your counselor and clinicians. Dr. Shah uses medications to treat symptoms, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, and other issues. These medications don’t cure problems, but are an evidence-based and effective way to manage symptoms. Medications may have side effects, so he works to minimize the use of medications while encouraging prevention, psychotherapy, and complementary treatments. Utilizing team approach to initiate alternative strategies, so you may be able to progress in your treatment goal at your own pace when you are ready.
Dr. Shah is passionate about helping patients on all three planes: Mind, Body and Spirit. He works closely with clients’ mental health care team to ensure integrated care as patients undergo the healing process. He aims to provide comprehensive diagnoses and flexible treatment plans.
Treating the causes of anxiety, depression, addiction and underlying disorders involves understanding both the biologic effects and the human experience of illness.
