HOMEWORK Learning space & supplies

Setting up a homework/learning space can sometimes be a challenge, especially when multiple family members are working in the same space. Here are some ideas to help your child stay focused, organized and comfortable.
- Find a quiet space that will limit distractions.
- Provide headphones/earbuds to cancel out background noise.
- Make sure they are working on a hard surface with plenty of writing space.
- Check the lighting throughout the day: add desk lamps if needed.
- Provide your child with a bin or storage container to keep all supplies/materials organized.
- Place tools within reach (pencil holder/paper bin)
- Keep water bottles nearby, but avoid placing them near computers... accidents happen!
- Test out various seating options (hard chairs can become quite uncomfortable)
- Check for access to electrical outlets- extension cords can help
- Create a "TO DO" checklist and hang nearby /print schedules
- Talk about expectations... prepare a plan for success... hang an encouraging note from you
- Personalize the space :)
