My name is Aron Nathan. I am a self-published teen author and a trans man who is never going to hide that fact or back down. I am from a small town near Akron, Ohio and I am incredibly proud of that fact. When I am not drowning in a sea of homework, I am probably drowning in a sea of imposter syndrome and questionable use of commas. In other words, whenever I can, I am either writing, editing, thinking about writing, or avoiding writing and instead watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
I wrote the first story that I remember writing in 4th grade. I was tasked with writing from the perspective of an inanimate object and I chose to write about my favorite blue monkey eraser. It was an emotional piece about stagnance and societal expectations. After that, I wrote a story on a set of flashcards about a princess and her cats. Since then, I have written countless short stories, poems, and attempted novels. My first published novel is titled Crooked and I am currently working on my second novel. Scroll down for details on both projects.
When I am not writing, avoiding writing, or researching (curled up with my cat, reading), I can be found glassblowing, crocheting, hanging out with any of my pets, watching tv, or working out (after all, how else would I become strong enough to either befriend or fight off a dragon?).
My favorite books to read are almost always fantasy or sci fi and almost always have a hint of romance sprinkled in. If you were to ask me to pick a specific book, I would be forced to burst into tears.
Below, you can find a picture of the cat that I keep mentioning.
I write because I have always been a reader. My parents read to me every night when I was younger and that habit stretched itself into a hobby that has since consumed my life. I love falling into another story and escaping mine for a moment. I love watching a movie unfold in my brain as I devour a book. I love sneaking into the mind of a narrator and thus an author. I love everything that comes with reading and everything that reading is. Because of my love for reading, I seek to provide those same experiences to my own readers. I want to be the author that you can use as an escape, as a comfort. I love letting my insane imagination take over and creating scenes for all of you to dive or stumble into. In addition to this, I am a queer author who, although there has recently been an influx of queer stories, grew up reading about romances between cisgender, heterosexual characters. I want to write characters that everyone can relate to, especially anyone who feels isolated or different. I want to write joyfully queer stories and share that joy with so many people. I want my works to be a home for you, dear reader. After all, anything I write is meant for you to find a home in. So, go forth as I have done and write with joy, read with joy, and always, above all else, love deeply and truly.

Crooked is my first published work! I am so proud of it and hope that you pick it up and fall into this story.
Crooked is the tale of a country -Ivara- from the beginning of time all the way into anarchical collapse.
The official summary of the book is as follows: Crooked: A Complete History of a Nation Once Known as Ivara is a book about a single nation by the name of Ivara. It follows the story of this nation from the beginning of time all the way into the end of time. It is broken up into several sections, by genre. Each section has different characters and formats and dynamics. First, there is Francesco and his gang of friends, on a quest to stop a curse from ravaging their homeland. The novel then transitions into a collection of letters about the overthrowing of an evil emperor, but I won't spoil too much. Then, there is Cameron, a king. He and his girlfriend must confront the same curse and make a world altering decision about what to do. After Cameron makes his big decision, the book falls into a historical fiction world, where Lady Mary and her friends must rescue Chloe, her best friend, from prison and stop the horrible events that are occurring in the kingdom. Following this, the text transitions into a transcript from an interview. This transcript details the destruction of a governmental system. But, is this a good thing? Well, that question is answered by the journal entries of Jake. He goes on a dystopian journey, gathering information and growing shocked at the state of his country and its government. Finally, it falls into a slice of life story about a girl and her crew of space pirates. All in all, it details and incredibly complex history of this nation, Ivara. There are found families, queer and trans characters, cats, mysteries, and so much more.
On top of Crooked, I have been published in several collaborative works. Since sixth grade, I have had pieces featured in Lake Erie Ink's teen anthology. Links to several of those texts can be found below.
As of right now, there are only a few retailers who carry my books. Sadly, none of them are indie, but as an independent author who self publishes, it is not the easiest to spread my books around. I hope that you will always support your indie bookstores, but in this case I also hope that you will choose to pick up my book. Only purchase the Barnes and Noble edition if you are okay with the cover being off kilter.
I am currently working on two projects (and thinking of many more).
One of these projects centers two elf factions and their ongoing war. When a Wood Elf is kidnapped by the Dark Elves, his entire worldview is thrown into chaos. Through a series of unfortunate events, he realizes that his ancestors actually started the brutal war that the elves have been engaged in for years. Eventually, he chooses to betray his family and side with the Dark Elves. He heads home, but even more misfortune strikes him in the form of a mysterious disease ravaging the Elven lands. Through all of these events, he must grapple with his feelings for the leader of the Dark Elves, his betrayal of his family, and his family's betrayal of everything that he stands for. Can he and the Dark Elf king fix everything, or is it simply too late?
The second project centers a man trapped in the body of a carousel animal, cursed to travel in meaningless circles until he can find true love. He has lost all hope, until a spark lights between him and a man visiting the carousel in the name of nostalgia. The visiter is a struggling author and bookseller, looking for meaning and joy in his dreary Cleveland life. Despite initial misgivings, he fosters a bond with the man trapped in the wooden dragon. The two navigate twists and turns, mysteries and revelatory moments, all in the hopes that both will be free from their prisons.
