How can parents and caregivers help with learning at home?

• Listen to your child read, then ask them to retell what happened in the story

• Practice last year's sight words and spelling lists

• Help them to learn their basic facts to 20

• Help them to learn how to skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s

• Help them learn the 2, 5 and 10 times tables (Year 3s)

• Help your child form their letters correctly by practicing handwriting with them

• Talk to your child about their culture and where they come from

• Share traditional stories in their home language and/or English

• If there are any significant symbols, patterns and/or colours in your culture, share these with your child

• Spend time together as a family baking, playing games, exercising and having fun
