Distance learning has finished for the year. There will be no more Google Meets.
This year our class takes its name from Shane Hansen. He is a Māori artist whose work draws inspiration from his culture and environment.
Shane began his career as a self-taught fashion designer, setting up his own label at 19 years old. In 2009, he started making art for a living and he hasn't looked back!
His artistic world is one if bold colours and modern Māori motifs, inspired by cultural discovery and an admiration for pop-art, strong graphics and the environment that surrounds him. As well as depicting the shapes and tones of Aotearoa, Shane's works express and celebrate who he is, where he's from and how he feels. He describes his work as "therapy, kai for the mind and soul".
