The winner will receive round trip airfare & hotel accommodations for one to Washington, D.C. to compete in the National “Great American Water Taste Test” in February 2026.
Eligibility
All Public Water Systems in the State of Hawai'i are eligible to participate in this contest. The utility must be a PWS recognized by the primacy agency. It must be a system that has its own wells and does not purchase water from another system. Please follow the contest rules and details listed below to participate in the competition.
Competition Rules & Information
The contest will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, during the Meet & Greet evening event.
Participants must register by November 14, 2025.
The sample must be taken within the distribution system by a qualified operator and placed within a glass container of approximately 1 quart in size. Only one sample per utility.
Samples should be kept cold and packed in ice when traveling to the event.
Samples need to be brought to the registration desk no later than 2:00 pm on November 19, 2025.
All samples must have a tag that will be provided when each system registers to enter the competition. Do not leave samples in the registration area without this tag.
A panel of Distinguished Taste Testers will judge all water samples in a blind taste test based on clarity, taste, and odor.
