Tech It Out Day is on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 9:00 AM - 11:45 AM online via Zoom!

Good times at last year's Tech It Out Day 2019. View more photos.

Aloha, Leeward CC 'Ohana!

This year we're doing things a little differently for Tech It Out Day. To keep everyone safe yet still have fun and learn together, we will engage synchronously online via Zoom! With this new modality, we'll be hosting two concurrent tracks of four sessions to be able to manage the event. Join us at our free online Tech It Out Day event to explore how technology can enhance teaching and learning whether you'll be teaching in-person, hybrid, or online. Some of the technologies are great for the workplace, too. Come "test drive" a variety of technology tools, network with your peers, and celebrate the start of a new semester!

Registration

Registration is open to our Leeward CC 'ohana, free, and required for this event. You will not need to specify which sessions you'd like to attend, but please plan ahead.

Tech Check

To participate in Tech It Out Day, you will need a computer or laptop with:

  1. Internet access

  2. Speakers and microphone (or headset/earphones with microphone to plug in)

  3. Zoom app installed

    • Go to Zoom's Download Center. Download and install the "Zoom Client for Meetings" app on your computer/laptop or the "Zoom Mobile Apps" for iOS or Android on your mobile device.

    • Sign into the Zoom app before joining a session.

    • Test out Zoom on your computer/laptop or mobile device by joining the Test Meeting Room. For additional assistance on configuring your audio, check out the brief tutorial.

  4. Alternatively, you can use a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet with the Zoom app installed, but please use a separate computer/laptop for the hands-on portions when trying out the different technologies being shared for the best experience (unless indicated otherwise in the session descriptions below).

Sessions are short (30 minutes) so please plan in advanced which sessions you'd like to attend and note the required or recommended devices, apps, and/or accounts you may need to participate in the "Session Descriptions and Resources" section below.

Schedule

There are two tracks/rooms of concurrent sessions. Each room has its own link to join so you'll need to exit out of one room and join the other room when joining sessions in different rooms. Note the passcode to join the rooms.

Choose four sessions from either room, as long as they are in different time blocks. Session descriptions and resources are below.
