Help the University of Hawaiʻi - Kapi‘olani Community College touch lives, restore hope, and build a healthier and stronger community.
The University’s 2022 Oʻahu Aloha United Way campaign will run through October 7, 2022.

Now, more than ever, your help is needed in our community.

For more than 100 years, Aloha United Way (AUW) has raised funds for local nonprofit organizations resulting in services that ultimately benefit hundreds of thousands of Hawaiʻi residents in areas including education, poverty prevention, and safety-net services.

The University of Hawaiʻi has consistently been a strong partner to AUW, and it’s all thanks to the UH ʻohana. We hope to continue this tradition with a 2022 goal of $176,000. With the current pandemic environment, the economic hardships for many Hawaiʻi households has increased dramatically.

If there ever was a time your assistance and generosity is needed, it is now. As soon as stay-at-home orders were issued and businesses were shutting down due to COVID-19, Aloha United Way 211 helpline calls spiked. Today the helpline has steadied at a 600 percent increase from pre-COVID-19 days and rent remains the top concern with health care and employment/income close behind. To address these concerns, AUW created a COVID-19 Rent and Utility Assistance Program, where to date, 606 households have been saved from eviction, allowing 1,056 adults and 968 children to keep a roof over their heads and not forced to live on the streets.

Paul S. Honda International Center

The Paul S. Honda International Center (HIC) at Kapi'olani Community College was named in honor of Mr. Paul S. Honda, who championed international education as a lifelong commitment. Through a generous endowment to Kapi'olani CC, the Center was founded in support of all international activities at the College. HIC is honored to support over 400 F-1 international students in the Fall 2022 semester from over 30 countries around the world. In addition, HIC continues to provide meaningful outbound study abroad experiences to local students with the intent to create globally competent citizens.
